New York City FC battled through frigid, wet conditions to secure a 2-1 comeback victory over the New England Revolution on Saturday night, marking their second win under new head coach Pascal Jansen.

From the opening whistle, NYCFC was on the attack, determined to break through New England’s struggling defense. The Revolution are winless since last September with just one draw in that span. Keaton Parks nearly put NYCFC ahead early with a powerful header off a corner kick, only to be denied by a point-blank save from Revolution goalkeeper Aljaž Ivačič.

Despite NYCFC’s relentless pressure, it was the visitors who struck first in the 26th minute. A cross from Brandon Bye took an unfortunate turn when NYCFC’s Thiago Martins misfired his clearance, inadvertently hitting the ball past goalkeeper Matt Freese for an own goal.

The lead, however, was short-lived. In the 38th minute, a lightning-fast counterattack saw Julián Fernández slot home the equalizer, igniting the home crowd at Yankee Stadium.

The decisive moment came in the 68th minute when Keaton Parks, once again testing Ivačič, forced another save. This time, the rebound fell perfectly for Alonso Martínez, who delivered a stunning scissor-kick finish to give NYCFC a 2-1 lead.

From there, NYCFC held firm to secure three crucial points, vaulting them into a four-way tie for fourth place in the Eastern Conference. They now set their sights on a road clash against the Columbus Crew, aiming for a third straight win.

Meanwhile, New England’s misery continues—their last victory remains a 1-0 triumph over Nashville in September, with just two wins since August 9th of 2024. The Revolution will hope to turn things around at home against the New York Red Bulls.
