LA Galaxy’s rough start to the season went from bad to worse as Vancouver Whitecaps snatched a dramatic 2-1 victory with an 87th-minute winner from Brian White. The defending champions, already stunned in their opener by expansion side San Diego FC, now find themselves winless at 0-0-2.

Vancouver wasted no time getting on the board, striking in just the second minute. Sam Adekugbe capitalized on a deflection off Galaxy goalkeeper Novak Micovic, giving the hosts an early lead. The Galaxy have now allowed 4 goals in their first two MLS games, not helping their injury riddled offense. The Whitecaps, riding a wave of momentum, have now won three straight across all competitions.

The Galaxy found a response when Gabriel Pec pounced on a botched clearance from Whitecaps keeper Tohei Takaoka, slotting home the equalizer. Unfortunately for them, that was as good as it got for the reigning champs, whose attack was mostly silent for the remainder of the match.

Vancouver continued to press relentlessly, but the breakthrough didn’t come until the dying moments. Pedro Vite delivered a pinpoint cross into the box, and White rose to meet it with a header, sealing the victory. Despite nine minutes of stoppage time, the Whitecaps held firm, keeping their perfect MLS start intact.

Next up, Vancouver turns its focus to a high-stakes Concacaf matchup with Monterrey, aiming to extend their win streak. Meanwhile, the struggling Galaxy must regroup quickly as they prepare for a Concacaf battle against Herediano.
